As a photographer with an acute interest in the written word, I feel my images must convey a story, when searching for a shot I will most often “see the story” and attempt to capture the image that best represents this. Of course not all photos tell a story, but instead express an emotion, serenity, tension, power, irony, etc; I prefer candid as opposed to posed shots, natural light, no flash or fill, minimal edits if any, digital (manual mode).
